About Us
It takes dozens of dedicated volunteers
to make Columbus Honor Flight work.

For example:
When a flight takes place, Ground Crew volunteers arrive at Port Columbus about 4:30 a.m. to get wheelchairs ready, set up to distribute tee shirts and other items, answer vet's questions and see that vets and their guardians get to the gate on time.  Ground Crew volunteers at Baltimore-Washington International help the Guardians get the vets from the airplane to the buses.  At night when the flight returns they do the same chores in reverse.

The volunteer guardians who escort  the vets to Washington, have taken a training class are charged with keeping special attention to the safety and comfort of the vets. Guardians pay for their own tickets.  In addition to those mentioned above, all administrative work, fund raising, public event activities, logistics, letters and breakfasts for vets, and dozens of other needs are fullfilled by volunteers.
