Volunteer Your Time and Talent

We are a volunteer organization. We welcome anyone with a heart for honoring veterans. Please contact us if you are interested in contributing your time and talents to Honor Flight. Volunteers are needed for everything from administrative tasks, fundraising, ground crew and guardians who accompany veterans on the trip to ensure a safe and memorable trip. (Volunteer guardians are asked to donate $300 to defray some of their own costs so that other donations go directly to benefit the veterans.)

Hold a Fundraising Event

We are a small group of volunteers. It takes dozens of volunteers to make this work. We need volunteers from all across the central Ohio region to hold fundraisers and donate proceeds to Honor Flight Columbus.

Community fundraisers, and fundraisers sponsored by churches, schools, and fraternal organizations have made it possible to take more than 2,700 vets from the Cental Ohio area since 2005. With many veterans on the waiting list, and more applications coming in, fundraising is paramount. We would be happy to talk with you about fundraising ideas and to learn about what you have planned.

Please contact us if you are interested in helping in this way. More than 30,000 hours were donated by volunteers in 2012 to support our mission.

Friends of the National World War II Memorial

Here's another volunteer opportunity at the World War II Memorial.

Our Mission

The purposes of Friends of the National World War II Memorial, working in cooperation with the National Park Service, Military District of Washington and other interested parties are:

to insure that the legacy, lessons and sacrifices of World War II are not forgotten: to enhance the educational experience of those who visit the Memorial.

to plan and support commemorative and celebratory events at the Memorial.

to contribute, as appropriate, to the continuing care of the Memorial and its park-like grounds.
